  • Comment: Disappointed is an understatememt.. 1. The Red cobra guppies - I purchased 2 pairs. The one male arrived seriously bloated and passed during acclimation. The other male is so poorly colored he looks like a female. I can only identify him vs. the females by his gonapodium. 2. The yellow sunset galaxy guppies are pretty but nothing like the pictures. I was so excited for them. I am hoping maybe they will become nicer as they age but nowhere in the sales page does it say these are juvenile fish. 3. White tuxedo females are pretty but both are giving the parasite look with sunken belly. All the bags had tons of white stringy feces. I know your website says you fast the fish so I guess it's possible the poop is from that... However, I spent almost $250 and I am not at all happy or feel like the fish were worth that price tag.

  • Comment: All the fish arrived health, the shipping and packaging are A+ for sure. However the fish I ordered while I ordered unsexed instead of demanding all males came 80% female. I contacted Dan’s and was told that they were sorry it appears the end of the order was female heavy but I could request all males and do another order next time they come in. To me this policy absolutely screws those of us willing to take a few females. I’m not sure if I will be back or not. The fish are really nice

  • Comment: These are fantastic fish, and are shipped with unmatched care. The come in individual, double bagged sealed packets, with each individual lively upon arrival. In a well planted tank with it's own real food chain of micro- and macro-fauna, these unique specimens lie in wait to hunt their tiny prey. Only after they fatten up on your mini critters can you see their beautiful body shape and notable fins. But you may rarely see them in your tank, even after they've grown, and even if you have a significant population. They hunt by stealth and move little until they strike. You may think they all passed until one morning you see six of them just hanging out in view. If you want in-your-face showy, these are not for you. If you're patient and confident, you will be rewarded. I'd add art, but they rarely appear when I'm ready to capture them on video or in a still pic. Plus, the joy is watching them. Who wants to spoil that with work?

The quality of the fish was impressive. 2 and a half weeks later, the fish are doing great and my Apistos have started to spawn! Highly recommend and will order again!

One place tried to pass a Killifish as a Double Red Dwarf Cockatoo?? Ha! Good try! Any ways all I have to say is WOW! GOOD JOB! I got what I ordered and fish were very healthy. I waited a couple of days till I wrote this. I watched their video on how they take care of their fish and ""THIER"" way on shipping them. Make since to me. Bags are a little small to PH Acclimate.   • Comment: This was my 4th? time purchasing from Dan's Fish. Every previous order was perfect, the fish were perfect, no problems. This time I ordered 2 siamese algae eaters, 4 berlin swords (I asked for at least one male and at least one female, and they did it even though they were unsexed) and 4 saffron orange sailfin mollies. All of the fish arrived in good condition except one sailfin mollie had a strange sunken belly right behind the gills. The next day all of the mollies had their fins clamped. All of the fish ate the day of the delivery and the day after, so that's good. I notified Dan, and he refunded me for the molly with a sunken belly, and advised I use praziquantel to treat the mollies. I have to say I am disappointed, I appreciate the refund, but I would rather have a healthy fish than a sick free fish. This hasn't deterred me from ordering from Dan, in fact, I just placed another order for some different mollies, so we will see how they arrive, and hopefully Dan will go back to 100% for me. Dan still, even with the sick mollies, has a much better track record for me than my local fish shops.

Which was a huge comfort as I've read reviews that cardinals are not as hardy. (even a reputable lfs said the ones they sell are hit or miss) Turns out cardinals are hardy if they are taken care of and shipped safely. -First Time purchaser (definitely not the last time)

  • Comment: This is my first experience ordering fish online. I ordered 7 cardinal tetras on Thurs evening, got an email that evening that my order would be shipped on Monday, arriving Tues. Shipment arrived within the window provided by UPS. Very impressive, especially here in Northern NV! Fish were packaged very well. They looked transparent (could hardly tell they were cards), but lively. (Of course if you shipped me in a box from WY to NV, I'd be pale too!) Colors appeared shortly after arrival and they are acclimating well. 24 hrs later, they're still doing great! So far, so good! Thanks Dan!!

  • Comment: Nothing like a fish arrival day from Dan's Fish. Everyone was healthy and lively with some loss of color but you expect it. The pea puffers colored up very quickly and were almost full grown. The shrimp shipped with the guppy grass, I think guppy grass, was a nice benefit and food for my scuds. Five stars as always.

The fish from my calculations were in their shipping package for about 14ish hours. They arrived perfectly (as I suspected) and acclimated without issue.   • Comment: Although I did have one DOA I’m confident it was nothing to do with the Dans Fish team, and just a lost fish due to shipping. Emailed them promptly after receiving the fish, with photos, and they quickly got my refund for me. The other two geo’s I got are happy healthy and swimming around the new quarantine tank. I was a little apprehensive getting the copper Molly’s without a picture but I’m so glad I did, they’re a beautiful orange and reddish color and the male even has slight blue streaks in his fins. Looking forward to adding them to my 55 and seeing lots of fry! Not my first purchase from Dan’s Fish, and it won’t be my last!

  • Comment: I ordered 8 orange shrimp, all arrived healthy and calm in their little baggies. They had a bit of java moss in with them to keep them relaxed. I took a couple hours drip acclimating before adding them to my tank and they buzzed around for a while, but settled right in within a few hours and are now colored up nicely and right at home. :)

  • Comment: I'm so glad I gave Dan's fish another try. The Leopard Ctenopoma are honestly an underrated fish. Their spotting is beautiful, their feeding behaviors are fascinating, and the "dead leaf" vertical swim they do is hilarious. They’re smart fish, verging on being wet pets with how interactive they are. I have them in an office tank, and they always come over to see what I’m doing. The tank is heavily planted, which seems to suit them perfectly. I also got an Apisto cacatuoides 'Double Red' female. She’s settled in great and is just starting to color up, showing some vibrant red.

This is the VERY first time I've ordered fish, online, that each fish were individually sealed within their own air sealed packet (printed on bag is the species) and neatly packed within the box supporting each other like a glove. Now I'm not a fish, but I can only imagine how stressful being shipped in a dark box would be...then I imagine how it would be being crammed in a bag with 8 other me's bumping in to each other. I feel like Dan truly loves this business (and the fish) by providing the least traumatic way to ship them...safely tucked in their own little sealed pouch! I'm really blown away and didn't realize a company did this. Every other place I've ordered from slaps them all in one bag and I usually end up with casualties. Yeah, I know this is long, but I'm that impressed Lol. I now can't wait to place another order...I know where I'm getting my lovely aqua friends from now on! Thanks Dan! Side note: my son saw the box and thought I ordered him special fish (his name is Dan too haha)

  • Comment: I have ordered five times, now, since I first discovered Dan's Fish. An incredible array of fish to choose from. I've ordered very rare fish from Dan's. Each time, they have arrived on time, in excellent health, and actually vibrant. The single package for each fish is a very easy way to introduce them into my different tanks. And, seriously, I allowed them to slip from the bag into the aquarium, after acclimatization, without fear that Dan's water in the bags would introduce a disease. All of them were introduced successfully, and all of them are healthy and breeding. I'm highly satisfied. And will continue to order as the opportunity presents itself.
