  • Comment: This was my first time ordering fish online and I was initially very nervous, but everything turned out great! All my African Shell Dweller Cichlids arrived in perfect condition, all living and all seem to be healthy and of high quality. I am very glad I tried ordering from Dan's Fish. Great value! If I buy online again I'll definitely use their store! I like that they use UPS and not the post office. Which was also a deciding factor for me. I don't even think the fish were boxed for 24 hours before I got them! Super quick and efficient. I'm happy with my order and the shipping. Thanks!

  • Comment: After a year in the hobby and time spent figuring out what I like in a tank and what doesn’t work well I decided to start a tank with the healthiest Livebearers possible. I knew Dan’s fish was the place to go. Platies are my favorite and I wanted to try guppies so I went with the sunrise hi fin platies and bluegrass guppies. They arrived carefully packaged, ideal temp (in August) and ready to thrive in their new home….so healthy and beautiful. After 6 days the guppies had fry and the platies are working on it. My healthy Livebearer tank is just what I hoped for. Thank you!

Only negative thing I could possibly say is that the fish seem to be a little smaller than listed, but that could be debatable. Overall a great experience and will definitely order again.

Once again,Dan & his crew exceed expectations-I'm so happy I finally pulled the trigger and got these killifish (breeding group of red chin panchax). They had their color while still in the bags,as did the 6 rivulus ornatus. I'm fighting the urge to look for more fish after i post this review. I bought a new tank for the group of red chin panchax,I feel like that low key gives me a reason to buy a few more fish🙄......Thanku to Dan & the crew!!

After a few days of acclimating the apistogramma and killifish look even better than I expected!   • Comment: First bad pair of fish i have ever gotten from Dan. The female was healthy and happy, but the male showed up with pop eye. After 2 months of constant tank maitenance to keep parameters perfect, 2 rounds of erythromycin and 2 of kavaplex his eyes were normal, but he was constantly hidden. The female is happy as a clam and always out. Today after 2 ish months of meds and constant effort to save him, he finally died. Usually, everything i get is top notch. This one was not. Poor quality fish, and now I have a lone female krib.... I was only buying fish from dans, but have since started using a few other suppliers for cichlids in particular. I had a similar issue with a pair of apisto from dans a year back, but the female had the Popeye. Wasn't sure if it was from shipping or what, but atleast i was able to save her. This krib had the worst most consistent popeye i have ever seen.

  • Comment: I ordered and very promptly received 20 CPD's after hearing Dan has the best of them around. When the box arrived I was happy to see them insulated and each fish individually bagged so as to make sexing them easier. I received 13 males and 7 females, some of which need some growing, overall I'm very happy with them, their colors and patterns are showing to be extremely vivid and their bodies healthy. Highly recommend ordering from Dan! I know I do.

  • Comment: I loved my blue cochu tetra so much (already got some from Dan's) that I got more. Also, I had about 3 Cardinal tetra that I picked up somewhere and thought I should get some friends for them. I can't say enough about the healthy nature of fish from Dan's. I've gotten fish from many places locally and online and NOBODY has compared to Dan's. Not even close. Even my wife told me, "just pay the money and get them from Dan's" because she saw me having such difficulties trying to get fish to live (especially rummynose) that I got other places. It's worth every dime.

  • Comment: I ordered these rummynose tetra from Dan's in order to add to the collection I have. The ones I've had for awhile are large and very plump- super-active. The new ones are smaller, of course, but still have the right body shape for their size and are doing great! I won't buy rummynose tetra from anywhere else. I have a few that I bought locally that actually lived, but they look skinny and stunted compared to Dan's because they weren't cared for properly early in life. DAN'S IS THE BEST.

I quarantined them for a few days (just to allow them to adjust to my water in peace) and then released them to my 75 gallon tank. The pleco is eating up the algae and the cardinals fell right in with the others I have and are growing nicely!

The modified order arrived in amazing shape. Every fish came in an individual bag with three temperature regulating bags with it. The care with which the fish will packaged was super confidence inspiring. All the fish look healthy, strong and reasonably stress-free. They've been introduced to the quarantine tank and they all look super. Thank you so much to the folks at Dan's fish! I buy a lot of live fish online,& the attention to the welfare of these animals,whilst in transit,makes all the difference. Ethical packaging/delivery is matched by the health of every animal sold,something that Dan's Fish is known for. Yup,you're gonna pay a little more,but you will 100% see where that money went the min you see your fish,not just in quality but also in the general disposition of an animal that is treated well. I've had my eyes on a few dream species of gobies for a longgg time, and finally pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago. I asked a few questions immediately after purchasing fish, which were answered within hours. I received updates after every step was taken both right before and during the shipping process. The fish arrived at my home in North Carolina healthy, secure, and cozy with temperature regulating bags. They started coloring up and grazing within a few hours of being in their new home.   • Comment: Another great shipment from Dans Fish. Bags of fish were a bit warm, 86F measured with a temperature gun, but acclimated down to 79F just fine after about 2 hours. Outside temperatures were near 100F. All seem healthy and happy. The platinum yellow tiger guppy female has already spit fry. The peacock gudgeon juveniles are spunky and eating well. Thank you Dan and crew. Update: after 16 days, we have lost 4 peacock gudgeons. Can’t make sense of it. PH 7.2, 79F, 0 nitrite/ammonia, nitrates 15.

So happy to know that the pets I purchased are humanely traded, cared for, and transported. The packaging, shipping, and delivery are top quality. One unfortunate loss during transport, which was refunded in less than 24 hours after my inquiry email.

Colors look great and no signs of travel stress or illness. I reached out to Dan's Fish with a question after receiving my order and received a thorough and thoughtful response the next day.   • Comment: Dans fish is seriously the best place I've ever bought from, better than some in person places. It's definitely the best pace to buy for me because I don't live by any big towns, so the gas money would cost the same as the shipping fee. The only downside is that all of the fish are very small I've bought hillstream loachs, corys, khuli loachs, and cherry shrimp which looked like they were born a week before I bought them. Regardless it's still a greatplace to buy from.

  • Comment: This is the first time I order live fish online, and my fears have been put to bed. Each fish was individually packaged with plenty of water and oxygen. You could tell they were eager to get out! My juveniles arrived healthy and gorgeous. Only one didn’t survive the first 6 hours upon arrival, but it’s day 4 and all other Gudgeons are still alive and healthy. Zero signs of illnesses. A bit picky and shy, but they’re doing great. Very grateful for the love and care Dan and team are clearly providing these fishes. Thank you!!

But the tetras--two arrived with significant dorsal and anal fin damage and one has a gouge in its underbelly and is missing a swim fin near its underside. I've dosed the entire QT with maracyn and added a bunch of almond leaves.

I got a dozen and they are all so beautiful. It's only been 2 days and they are fully colored up. Best of all, they come right up to the glass and beg for food when they see me - no fear at all!
